The following pages will cover our basic policies and requirements pertaining to the sale of our puppies. Please read it over carefully and e-mail us if you have more questions. If you are interested in having one of our puppies, please fill out the questionnaire on this website and we will contact you after we have read over the questionnaire. Our commitment to our puppies is that they be placed in a loving home where they will become a member of the family and live “ Happily Ever After “. Our puppies have been bred with the goal of improving the temperament and structure of our line. The parents are checked for health conditions that could be passed on such as heart disease, hip dysplasia, cataracts and thyroid disease. Puppies will not leave the breeder’s home until at least 8 weeks of age. They will have had at least one DHPPC and one Bordetella vaccination. They will have been wormed and checked for parasites. The dewclaws will have been removed and they will be micro-chipped. Deposits and ReservationsWe will be evaluating the puppies to determine if the puppy will go to a show home or a companion home. Show homes will have priority over companion homes to choose from the litter. We will accept deposits once the puppies are born. The deposit required at that time will be $200.00 and is non-refundable if you change your mind or decide to buy elsewhere. The deposit will be returned in full if the puppy is not available to you (i.e. – the evaluation determines that the puppy should go to a show home). Puppy’s Life at our HomeIn the time that the puppies are with us they will be socialized with other dogs and have exposure to normal household sounds and get to experience the outdoors when the time is right. They will be exposed to crates and basic obedience training. They will be bathed and have their nails trimmed. We encourage you to keep up with the nail trimming and baths when the puppies are still young so that you don’t have to wrestle a 100+ lb. Dane when these need to be done. FoodThe puppies will be fed Bil-Jac puppy kibble at our home when they are ready and we recommend that they remain on this or a similar high quality kibble (protein 23%, fat 10% - or as close as you get) so that they don’t get too fat or grow too fast. If not done right, it may cause HOD or OCD which our guarantee does not cover. Fencing RequirementsOur puppies are definitely indoor dogs although they need plenty of outdoor exercise and play. Therefore, we require at least a 4-foot high fence for the containment of the puppy. Invisible fencing is not adequate enough and acreage is not a suitable reason for lack of fencing. At no time should they be chained or tethered. Show PuppiesPuppies sold with a show contract are expected to be shown on an average of one show a month in any given year. Puppies will not be placed in homes with a full AKC registration unless the buyer plans on showing the puppy. All puppies going to an unproven show home will only go with co-ownership with the breeder until the terms are met regarding showing the puppy. Companion PuppiesAll companion puppies will be sold on a strictly spay / neuter contract (NO EXCEPTIONS) with AKC limited registration. If you spay or neuter your dog prior to the age of maturity (in females – first season, in males – 14 months of age) the warranties of the contract are excluded. Limited registration means that the dog is registered with the AKC and can compete in Agility, Tracking, Obedience, and Rally, but cannot compete in Conformation and no litter from that dog is eligible for AKC registration. The breeder can upgrade this limited registration to a full AKC registration in the event that the said dog proves to be worthy of producing get or being shown in Conformation events. The breeder will process the upgrade upon payment of the difference between companion prices and show price of the litter plus the cost of upgrading the registration. This will only be done when the breeder does an evaluation of the puppy and determines it is show / breeding quality. Litters from limited AKC registration dogs are not eligible for AKC registration. Cropped versus Uncropped This is the puppy buyer’s decision to make. If the buyer decides they want a cropped puppy, the crop will be done before leaving us. No crops will be done after the puppy leaves us. We will help with ear taping and / or provide someone living close to buyer to help with it. For puppies going to companion homes, if the buyer wants cropped ears they will pay for the cropping in addition to the purchase price of the puppy. Return Policy If for any reason the buyer is unable to keep the puppy it must be returned immediately to the breeder with all the AKC paperwork signed over to the breeder and health documentation. Under no circumstances will the puppy be sold, given, placed or otherwise transferred to anyone not a party to our contract. If the breeder becomes aware that the puppy is being kept in an unsafe, unhealthy or abusive environment, the breeder reserves the right to repossess the puppy and the purchaser will surrender the dog with the AKC registration signed over to the breeder and the buyer will not be reimbursed for any portion of the purchase price of said puppy.
